Remember the Packathon we were supposed to have back in March? You know, the one that got canceled as COVID-19 shut down the country? Well Scott Cheatham and J Micheal join us this morning with a call for volunteers to the rescheduled, safe, and social distanced Packathon in November.
The When, Where, and How
The Cape Fear Feed the Hunger Packathon takes place November 13th and 14th with three separate shifts. On Friday November 13th, the time is 6:30-8:30pm. On Saturday November 14th, you can help from 9-11am or 12:30-2:30pm. If you’d like, you can register for multiple shifts. The packathon takes place in a warehouse at 312 Raleigh Street in Wilmington.
Following social distancing guidelines, masks will be required and groups will be separated across the warehouse. This method has proven to be very safe as no COVID outbreaks have occurred at previous packathon events using this method.
Because of several canceled Packathon events over the last six months, Feed the Hunger is down about half a million meals since last year. That means the need for meals, and therefore volunteers to pack them, is greater than ever.
Scott Cheatham and the Feed the Hunger team are seeking about 130-140 people for each shift. With such a larger number of people required to pack this goal of 100,000 meals, large groups are desperately needed. Church groups, scout groups, sports teams, or groups from any kind of organization have an opportunity to make a huge impact.
In additional to sharing meals with those in need across the globe, Feed the Hunger also shares the gospel of Jesus Christ.
